One of the best ways to enjoy wild salmon is on the grill. If you want to ramp things up and take it to a whole other level, you’ve got to trying grilling them using cedar planks. It’s a super easy process that results in some of the juiciest, most flavorful salmon you’ll ever eat and you can change up the recipe in lot of different ways.

While this recipe is very straight forward, you could baste the salmon with a honey mustard glaze, BBQ sauce, or dry rub of your choosing if you were so inclined. You could also opt to soak the planks in a variety of different liquids (cider?!). But, if you’ve never had salmon cooked this way, we would recommend trying this basic recipe first because the flavor is truly outstanding.

Cedar Planked Salmon

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 4-6oz salmon fillets
  • 2-4 1/4″ thick cedar planks, depending on size (available in-store)
  • 4 fresh rosemary sprigs
  • olive oil (O-Med Smoked or Yuzu for extra flavor!)
  • Salt & Pepper

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Start by soaking the cedar planks in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry and place them on cedar planks.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and place a rosemary spring on top of each fillet.
  4. Place the planks with the fish onto a grill over medium-high heat and cook for 10-15 minutes (145 degrees internal temperature) depending on thickness of fillet and temperature of the grill.
