INGREDIENTS:

Serves 2-4

  • 2 4-6oz, #1 ahi tuna steaks
  • 12 oz mixed greens
  • Daikon radish sprouts
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup Tamari (or soy sauce)
  • 1/2 cup of rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of mirin
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • ginger miso dressing
  • GINGER MISO DRESSING
  • ½ cup miso paste
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup sushi vinegar
  • 1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sugar

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a large saute pan over medium high heat, add in vegetable oil and sesame oil and heat until just starting to smoke.
  2. Add the tuna steaks and sear on all sides and edges (approximately 30 seconds – 1 minute per side).
  3. Add the tamari, rice wine vinegar, mirin, garlic, and ginger and reduce until the sauce becomes a thick syrup and remove from heat.
  4. Place the tuna steaks back in the pan to glaze with the sauce.
  5. For the ginger miso dressing, combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk to combine. Use the dressing to dress the mixed greens.
  6. Slice the tuna steaks at an angle into 1/8″ thick slices and serve atop the mixed green salad. Drizzle over additional tataki glaze as desired and garnish using daikon sprouts and sesame seeds.
